"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
It is a blessing to see St. George's Church School continues to strive every year. This is due to dedicated teachers who are committed to teaching the foundation of the Antiochian Orthodox faith of the Sacraments, Feast days and the Orthodox faith, even virtually during Covid-19. Normally, Our Sunday school program begins with preschool all the way up to eighth grade that meets on a weekly basis following communion of the Divine Liturgy in the church hall. The children look forward to learning about their faith and are encouraged to discuss current events, especially high school age kids.
Activities are scheduled throughout the year which include family and game nights where we surprise the children with a special performance. Additional activities include fundraising, Christmas program, snow tubing, Easter egg hunt, jog-athon and graduation ceremony.
Another activity that the children participate in every year is the Creative Arts Festival at our annual Parish Life Conference which takes place in different cities within our Archdiocese. The theme is different each year and is chosen by our
Metropolitan Joseph. The children can choose how they would like to present their projects whether it is a creative arts drawing, poetry, photography or mixed media. The children are awarded with first, second and third place and honorable mention. They are then recognized at the awards bruncheon during the Parish Life Conference where Metropolitan Joseph presents them with a certificate and a special gift.
It is such a blessing to see our children showing so much love, smiles and excitement in coming together learning about the ways of Orthodoxy and the life of Christ.
